I don't think it is appropriate to describe the Old Guards as Pro-Pink. If any, the Old Guards belong to the Pro-Secular Camp which promotes inclusiveness for everyone. This means to a limited extent that both the Christian Right and the Pink Lobby will be pushed back so that AWARE can accommodate both groups without causing too much internal conflict.

To be fair to the Christian Right, one should take note that they are not a coherent organisation, but rather a loose alliance of individuals and religious groups. The same can be said for the Pink Lobby and the Secular Group - a loose alliance of individuals and groups. I think in Singapore, secularism is the accepted way of life because it had worked so well for us for the past 40 years. The Secular Group is probably the biggest camp among the three.

You have just pointed out the most obvious reason why schools exist in the first place.

If the Bible is everything, then why send Christian kids to school? Send them to church and let "Father" do all the talking.

Obviously school cultivates in the young some valuable information that cannot be taught by religion.

Avoiding the topic of sex, homosexuality, abortion and sexual diseases will not make them go away. Opening discussing them without any biases and equipping the young with the tools necessary to make responsible decisions for themselves is the way to go. Censoring anything anywhere in the internet age is not going to help at all.

If anyone must make a statement, make it with logic, sense, evidence and science. That is the only sure way to empower another person; the TRUTH!
