It may seem strange but, do you ever mix movies with real life?
This question came to mind one day when I was in the kitchen the other day.
As I picked up the butter knife, I found myself humming that famous sound effect from the movie Psycho. You know the one with the violins.
So I went to the near instantaneous means of response to solicit opinions.
I posted on Twitter my question.
Not long later I got people telling me that yes; many people appear to do so.
And there were the usual Trolls who replied that no it was just me, LOL.

Why are they so insecure, that if they admitted they did it some loss of maturity would occur?
Seriously, as long as it doesn’t involve a visit to the padded room and a strait jacket why not?

How about these for an example:
Making screeching brake car sounds when turning a corner.
Humming the Jaws theme when sneaking up on a sleeping person.
Saying Meep Meep when you make a sudden stop after running.
My fav is the bionic sounds when lifting things.

Right, I can hear some of you saying “That is sooo childish”
My reply is “Reach behind and pull that stick out!” If an ‘adult’ can’t have fun why the hell carry on?

So come on guys, the next time you are alone, stick your arms out make a sharp turn and say “waaaroooo” or what ever come close to the sound Airwolf made when banking to avoid a missiles. 

I’ve waited a few days before posting. And a little feed back would be nice.
Let’s lay the foundations.
The person in question has definitely some brain cells, thinking is definitely something they do. Understanding the English language is confirmed.

If someone said something to you that is obviously an insult (if all of the above is to be believed) would you let them off the hook? Or would you bring it up?

This is not a question of being petty, this person then not long later tossed another insult, this time pertaining to my mother.

Maybe it’s is not considered an insult, just being mean.

Example:
Did you let a cockroach eat your hair?
I don’t know what conditions you live in but it never happened to me.

Would you laugh it off, do you find it funny?

Why haven’t I said/done anything yet? Logic dictates human nature needs to be polled and based on the collected results a decision can be made.

How the hash tag Bumfondle came to be

Several months ago a little after the #awaresg saga ended with the happy return of the ‘Old Guard’.
So a bunch of us got together at Brewerkz Riverside Point. There was a nice big crowed, about 12 of us gathered around a long table. As with all gatherings several conversations were happening simultaneously with those in the middle flipping back and forth (not to different from watching a tennis match).
Now the gods conspired and all conversations either ended or paused.
In that moment of silence, one @growlybear was the only voice to be heard.
“Please fondle my bum!” he announced.*
*Ok we have taken to opportunity to take it out of context with his permission.
Did he really say that? WTF? Seriously what?!!?
Almost instantly everyone said, “Ok lets tweet that!” “Who has an internet connection quick!”
Thus a hash tag was born!
It didn’t take long for #bumfondle to make its round the Twittersphere.
There was plenty of giving & receiving #bumfondles and people wanting to know how they could get in on the action. ;P

So now at most tweetups, look for #sgtweetup @ctham with gladly retell the tale much to the cheesy grin embarrassed look of @growlybear.

Well to top it all off there is an official website http://bumfondle.me
There you will find links to the underwear you can buy and the 2 podcasts from the Shareen & Joe Show.

During a twitter conversation with my good pal @Wolfgang_ we were discussing the merits of Lieutenant Gene Hunt from Life on Mars. So I said he had a mancrush on Gene Hunt.

During a twitter conversation with my good pal @Wolfgang_ we were discussing the merits of Lieutenant Gene Hunt from <a href=” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0787490/” target=”_blank”>Life on Mars. So I said he had a mancrush on Gene Hunt. This had him wondering if I was questioning his manhood.
So during a recent TweetUp we delved deeper into the nuances of his mancrush. But wait! What is a mancrush? Thanks to the Interwebs we have our answer.
UrbanDictionary sez :
Man Crush
When a straight man has a “crush” on another man, not sexual but kind of idolizing him.
Now that we have a definition we need examples!
A guy can have a mancrush on Sean Connery (the Original James Bond!)
A guy cannot have a mancrush on Orlando Bloom (Legolas from Lord Of The Rings)
That seems clear enough based on the resounding cheers from the fellow TweetUp group.

Now not to be confused with just muscle bound he-men like Vin Deisel & Mark Whalberg there is also Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Al Pacino & Robert Redford.

What did we learn? It is ok to have a mancrush, just don’t say you want to run your fingers along his shoulders and stare into his eyes. ;p

Giving Face to someone may not be what you expect.

A few days ago I was surprised that Giving Face had a different meaning to what I knew it to be. A little background here folks . I was twittering with @demiwood and I joked that she was not Giving Face to me for not adding me to her Facebook friends. Being the lovely lady that she is she found an innuendo in my post (on of the reasons I enjoy twittering with the Lady Wood).
Traditionally to ‘Giving Face’ when used in Asian context it means ‘To Honour’ or ‘Give Respect’. What I was surprised to find out ‘Giving Face’ mean to perform oral sex.
OMG!! I did NOT mean that! Luckily I hope she did not think I meant that.
So learn from this folks, ‘Giving Face’ is not just an honour thing!

I thought I wait a few days to see what the fall out to the latest Microsoft commercials would be.
Guess what, the obvious happened.
Adrian Kingsley-Hughes posted on March 31st, 2009
Two mistakes Microsoft made in its “I’m just not cool enough to be a Mac person” ad I the ZDnet Blogs.
What seems to be missed is the fact that Microsoft does NOT make PCs, it made the OS that runs on any PC you want to build. (Lets not get silly and point out you cannot run XP on a built with parts from 1995)
Apple on the other hand DOES make PCs, (yes folks ALL Macs are PCs because they are personal computers. PC does not equate to Microsoft. Why? Because Linux also runs on PCs which are…wait for it…Personal Computers!) Apple also makes the OS that runs on the PCs they build.
So what is my point? There no mistake has been made.
According to Adrian
Mistake #1 – Setting the price point at $1,000

A $1,000 is a lot of dough to people in the current climate, and the ad hits us with this upper limit price 7 seconds in. I’m guessing that a lot of people switched off by that point before getting to the meat of the ad. On top of that, the $1,000 upper limit was also a bad idea given that the final system cost under $700 (I’d have set the limit at $750 given that outcome) and that it allowed Apple to sneak in a system priced at that upper limit (thus telling people that Apple have a notebook for $1,000).

Can you really buy a brand new Mac laptop for a $1,000 or less? But you can get a laptop running Microsoft Windows. So why a $1,000 price point? Simple, in this current climate you really have to be flush with cash to spend more. Thus anything less that can get you what “Lauren” wanted is a deal. The $750 final price just proved the point.
Please note, you can get even cheaper and more powerful systems if she wanted a desktop! But Lauren wanted a laptop.

Mistake #2 – Not hammering home the cost of a comparable Apple system

I think that the ad stumbles big style when it comes to handling the price difference between a 17-inch Mac system and the system that the red-headed Lauren ultimately buys from Best Buy.

In the ad Lauren says that in order to buy a Mac she’d have to double her budget of $1,000 if she was to be “cool enough to be a Mac person”. In reality a 17-inch MacBook Pro costs $2,799, so she’d need to triple her budget. Out it another way, she could have bought four of the notebooks she picked for that price. Most people would consider $2,800 to be a lot of cash and the contrast between the HP system and the MacBook Pro system.

Hammering home the cost? Why bother. The fact is, the price was set at a $1,000.
Anything more would seem like they were trying too hard to convince the wrong target audience.

Funny thing thought in an earlier post Adrian has the right idea in a way. It is what you can get for the price you want. What you can do with the OS you get.

“I’m just not cool enough to be a Mac person”
This is just the minor poke at the Apple Ads. Yes it is minor, because it is not the main thrust of the commercial.

Let me say for the record, the commercial did what it was supposed to do. Is it a success? Is it a failure? That my friends is up to you, and what you decide to buy. Me? I’ll buy a Mac when I find that the Mac can do something I need that my “PC” cannot do.
