I really am tired of reading phone reviews when 99% of the time the reviewer goes on and on about how the phone is not an iPhone.
Here is a clue for you morons, it isn’t!
Got a new phone, review it for what it is or compare it to it’s predecessor.
This frakking love affair with the iPhone and the constant need to prove it is the holy grail is sadly bringing down the quality of all reviews.

Unless the phone maker has proclaimed “I have the iPhone Killer, let us rejoice” how about giving us the real deal.

Now before anyone says I’m a hater, let me tell you I own an iPhone 3G S.

Am I impressed? Yes, it is a great pocket PC (PC means Personal Computer not a Windows product) but as a phone lets say Nokia will not loose me as a LOYAL customer.

So the new phone does not work like an iPhone, get over it! The GUI has to be different or else there would be law suits flying back n forth.
Is it laggy not as responsive, dduh different equipment, different OS.
Seriously people even the iPhone has flaws, yes it does you Apple apologists!

So back to the point, the iPhone is NOT intuitive. It just seems so after hours of repetitive use. It’s called muscle memory. This bitching that this new phone or that new phone doesn’t work like an iPhone, is dumb because it is a ‘insert other brand here’!
Apple is known for it excellent UI while others have not. How about suggesting that other manufacturers take lesson or two on design and ergonomics.

My mom who is regularly on the PC and uses her Nokia N82 with ease could not ‘intuitively’ use the iPhone until I showed her.
My sister who is even less IT savvy has an iPhone and barely uses all the functions with ease.

Ok Trolls I heard that, and since I know how smart my mom and sister are your words are meaningless. :)

Anyhoo, touch interface is really a field that needs engineers & UI developers to buck up and copyright/trademark/intellectual property motherfrakkers to quit making life difficult for the rest of us.

So all you Technology pundits and bloggers with whom everyone else is in love with and follow mindlessly do us a favour. If you cannot be objective when you do a review, don’t write one.
And enough with the frakkin eyeball grabbing headlines, I’m sick and tired of reading a headline to be thoroughly disappointed with the article.

Oh my goodness, breaking news in the Straits Times! Ziyi snubbed by boutique. Wow is this a slow news day or what? I agree with my brother in blog Callan when he posted Why is this even news. An international star snubbed? They did not sub her, they simply refused to reopen the shop they just closed. They probably had counted the cash, ballanced the book for the day. You know, the usual. Pardon me if I commit a ‘crime’ by saying so what, really is that international star going to pay more than sticker price? Buy more stuff than an average day could bring in?
Doing a little googling it turns out Zhang Ziyi went back the next day and got her stuff.
Now the part I have a problem with is the other bit in David Gan’s blog on this very incident.

I’m not saying that they HAD to let us in because Ziyi is an international star but rejecting her would give the brand and the service industry in Singapore a bad name. I would like to say to that 1% of imbecile man and women in the service line, please either quit job or go for some hospitality classes to improve you manners and strenghten your ability to better communicate with the customers. And to the management staff, please choose and train your floor staff properly before sending them out to the real world.

So what is he saying?
Let me translate.
They should have opened the shop for Ziyi, regardless if they had a long business day and had other resposibilities. The staff that refused to open the shop are the 1% imbecile who should quit their job or go to hospitality classes.
And guess what, you are not working in the real world! The real world is where you should kowtow to international celebrities. If they want fresh sushi at 3am you damn well get it FAST!!! Now that is the real world.

Yes sir Mr. Gan has the right attitude. The exact kind that makes people pissed off. Dude you have lost your grip on the ‘Real World’
nuf said.

Ok I waited a bit watched the fallout and think I have a few cents left to offer.
Miss Ris Low, certainly not the low risk choice for the Miss Singapore World pageant; but to the average person on the street she is just another ‘pretty girl’ who will be forgotten in no time flat. Only to be laughed at the next time she unfortunately gets in the news.

I give her (Ris Low) the props for taking part in the flagging beauty contest franchise. This business has been going down hill for some time now. Scrapping the bottom of the barrel in fact. Far be it for me to say but even the Singtel Grid Girls can do a better job. *hahahahahaha*

She committed a crime, in fact several times. So she has bipolar disorder, which does not mean she has uncontrollable urges to commit crime. That is called kleptomania. What we have seen so far is all political spin, and a little magic. Magic? Yes the art of misdirection. Focus on the bad interview, ignore the crime spree. Nothing to see here folks, move along now.

Now on to the meat of the matter. Should she keep her crown? Can she represent us in the international contest?
Well the matter is moot. She gave up the crown. I would believe that if I didn’t have such low faith in humanity and that behind the scenes they said, “Sorry you have given us too much bad press, pack your bags. Don’t call us we’ll call you. Have a nice day”

All that aside, I still wouldn’t want her to represent us. I’m a stickler on our Miss Singapore World being able to speak English properly. Not Queen’s English, as people in England do not speak the Queen’s English. Just pronounce the vowels and consonants. Don’t add extra letters to words.
Is it really too much to ask that we don’t perpetuate the idea that we don’t speak English in Singapore. Even Beyonce said it.

Summing it up. Too bad, so sad, but once we have a little quality the rest will follow.
To Miss Ris Low good night and good luck.

3 guys & 3 gals, 2 married, 2 a couple,a single female and a single male. A good mix to get all the views right?
Out come? Guys you have to remember the words of General Ackbar, “It’s A TRAP!”
Sure it seems an innocuous question, but beware the depths of danger and trouble that hide behind it can cause any man to say “Just shoot me NOW!”

Surely I’m being over dramatic, actually no. The number of ‘explanations’ given why a woman would ask such a loaded question made us men cringe in horror. It is a bloody mine field! No answer is safe. Silence is also not safe.

From the guys, the obvious question is, “If you think it makes you look fat, why did you buy it?”
From the girls,
“I was slimmer then.” [ok I can agree that MAY be true]
“The lighting was different” [gee you think?]
“It was on sale” [Logic fail if you then wonder if you look fat in it]
“It matched the top I had on” [so put that bloody top on instead of this one!]
“I want to be comfortable’ [then stop buying skin tight stuff DDuh]
“What do you think” [No way, I saw that movie. The guy got the death sentence for it]
This is just a sample.

Now guys we agree, that a straight answer is what we normally give, if there is no possibility of peril or punishment. But for the sake of argument let’s offer a few reasons why we say, “It’s a TRAP!”

Personal Disclaimer statement!
I personally HATE those skinny-till-bones-protrude-so-I’m-sexy women.
Hello! When the curves we see, is actually the round part of various bones in your body sticking out so much; I hardly think Sexy but of pictures I saw of POWs at the Changi War Museum.

Back to the point.

Men will tell you if you women have gained some padding.

Guys will tell you that you have some junk in the trunk if it is really there. And some guys like a rounder bum on their women.

So if you show him your bum and say “Does this make me look fat” the answer is NO. With the small print stating that “If you did I would have told you, and yes I’m not lying, and no I do not want to play THAT game”

Also if you have already made up your mind that you wish to use that item, why bother asking? We know that most times you don’t really want our opinion. Again It’s a TRAP!!!

This brings us to the ‘Women have a secret agenda which usually end up with the guy getting sent to the dog house’ reason for asking that question.

If you want some affection, just say so, like “Hey baby if I took all this off will I look fat?”

If you are having the monthly urge to Purposely make Men Suffer (PMS) let me clue you in to a secret. We don’t like that game. We don’t want to play.

If you just feel like pissing him off, make him go shopping with you and not be able to leave your side.

See like I said in the beginning, “It is a TRAP!!!”
